BOER WAR 1899-1902
Prior to Federation Australia became involved in its first conflict, the Boer War in Africa. Investigations are still being carried out to locate any relatives that served as part of this campaign. The only known information relates to a Hammond. This information was passed down by Fred Hammond to Mark Carter, however, at the time the information was not very detailed and not even his first name can be remembered. The only information that can be confirmed is that he was a cook. At this stage most of the records for the Boer War have been covered, but unfortunately, nothing has come to light. Perhaps it was that he cooked for the contingent prior to their departure to Africa? Further investigation will be carried out. There are a number of links at the Links Page that can be used to research records from the Boer War. |
